Shoppers encouraged to upload favourite snaps to win prizes.
Majid Al Futtaim shopping malls in Dubai are running an Instagram competition for shoppers during Ramdan to encourage them to take pictures of their favourite in-mall decorations and upload to the picture-sharing site, with amazing prizes to be won for the best snaps.
Each mall’s décor provides perfect inspiration for ‘double-tap’ -worthy Instagram images: At Mall of the Emirates, shoppers will see impressive glass and light installations hanging in the Central Galleria, and along the walkways, of classic crescent moons and stars evoking a peaceful and calm atmosphere throughout the mall.
Fuad Sharaf, Senior Director at at Majid Al Futtaim – Properties said: “Ramadan is a very special time for families and friends to come together and join in the spirit of the Holy Month. Our malls provide a perfect location to bring people together and spend their evenings in good company. Each year, we decorate our malls in keeping with the traditions of the month and to reward our loyal shoppers, to create great moments, for everyone, everyday. Our Instagram competition offers a fun and social way for shoppers to spread the joy of the Holy Month, and have the chance to win some fantastic prizes.”
Shoppers at City Centre Mirdif will be treated to evening entertainment of Tanoura dancers in the Central Galleria to accompany the décor of intricate archways, hanging installations and crescent designs.
Dedicated areas within City Centre Deira with traditional Arabic carpets, lanterns and falcons will give shoppers Insta-inspiration to share on social media; while enjoying Syrian folk songs during a festive Aradha Shamia parade, celebrating the Arab culture and the Holy Month.
Having chosen their favourite decoration, shoppers can upload their images with the following hashtags, corresponding to the mall: Mall of the Emirates - #MOERamadanDecor; City Centre Mirdif - #CCMiRamadanDecor; City Centre Deira - #CCDRamadanDecor
To reward the winning images, Mall of the Emirates will choose 10 of the best photographs and award Eidyas of a gift voucher worth AED 1000 for each of the winners, which will be announced at the end of Ramadan.
City Centres Deira and Mirdif will each reward 20 winners, in honour of the 20th anniversary of the City Centre brand. Winners will be rewarded with an iftar for them and their family to enjoy.
Throughout Ramadan, Majid Al Futtaim malls operate extended opening hours: Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira and City Centre Mirdif are open from 10am to 2am during weekdays and 10am to 3am at weekends.
