Mall of the Emirates’ brings ‘Kursi’ exhibition to showcase unusual and innovative chair designs by young talents of Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation
• The exhibition is in collaboration with the region’s first university exclusively dedicated to design and innovation
Mall of the Emirates invites you to admire, discover and share Instagram photos of a series of inventive chairs designed by students and faculty of the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation (DIDI) until May 1.
As part of its effort to bring engaging community events for residents and tourists and promote young talent and local art institutes in Dubai, Mall of the Emirates has collaborated with DIDI for an exclusive design exhibition, KURSI (Arabic for chair). The exhibition will be in the Luxury Wing on Level 1 of the mall during the Dubai Home Festival,
In order to mark international furniture brand Vitra’s 50th anniversary of its iconic Panton chair, students and faculty of the university were asked to take inspiration and explore alternative approaches to chair design. Visitors will get to witness the meticulous craftmanship and passion of the young students and learn about the materials used to design the unique pieces.
The initiative follows Mall of the Emirates’ other successful photography exhibitions, such as Art from the Heart during Ramadan last year and Chinese New Year in February. Mall of the Emirates also regularly sets up unique art installations in the Fashion Dome for visitors to experience.
