Fashion is ever changing. The moment you get used to itself, another 'next big thing' comes along. With all designer brands presenting new collections every six months – or sooner – staying on top of it is sometimes a full-time job. Thankfully, when it comes to menswear, there are a few key staples that never go away. This style guide will showcase some of the Spring/Summer's most wearable trends.
Embrace your inner punk
Expect to see antique rings and stacks of bracelets on men, and we're pleased to report that denim is back in a big way. Expect blue jeans and subtle patters that channel the counter-cultural musical movement that grew out of the 1980s.
Hide in plain site
Camouflage is one of the fashion's most resilient trends – it never quite disappears. True to form, this Spring it returns – but in a radically different form. The general idea of camouflage remains – a mishmash of overlapping layers in colours or textures – but in a cool new way.
Prints are charming
You'll remember this look from last summer. Yes, the billowed short-sleeved shirt made in colourful silk is very much this year's big thing. And why not? They're perfect for strolling along at the height of the heat of summer. Expect them in all shapes, sizes, and patterns.
The return of retro
Sometimes fashion chooses to focus on the past on purpose. This season sees jackets go back to the 1970s, with a renewed popularity of vintage-style jackets (like the bomber, and denim jacket – see above). The old styles have trim silhouettes – which keeps them bang up to date.
Polo's are popular
Invented by French tennis pro and businessman, Rene Lacoste, the polo shirt is no longer used solely in sports. This season sees their return to the catwalks, but in new materials (such as soft cashmere). Expect slim cuts and shorter sleeves.
Men's fashion will never stray far away from the suit. This season sees lighter materials (so you don't bake in the sun) in spring-friendly colours. Forget the boring old navy suit, why not embrace burgundy, tan or beige?
