International Women’s Day Campaign Launched at Mall of the Emirates
It’s a Women’s World this March at Mall of the Emirates: Five Inspiring Women in Dubai Honoured for their Charitable Work in Society.

In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, Mall of the Emirates has launched a ten-day campaign “It’s a Women’s World this March at Mall of the Emirates” from March 1st -10th to honour women in the UAE and throughout the Middle East. Embracing the official International Women’s Day theme, “Connecting Girls, Inspiring Futures,” the mall will be honouring five diverse women in Dubai who, through their own inspiring stories and commitment to charitable work, reflect the strong, independent and admirable qualities underlying the campaign.
During this period, Mall of the Emirates is also marking the onset of the Spring/Summer 2012 fashion season. A Style Guide featuring on-trend fashion tips for the season and retail offers has been specially created for shoppers. The Guide lists offers across a number of the mall’s stores with offers ranging from Kurt Geiger, Harvey Nichols, DVF, See by Chloe, Sephora, Pullman and Kempinski Hotels, and Armani Café, just to name a few.
A series of activities and promotions will also be going on throughout the mall and on social media channels. There will be exclusive shopping discounts and women will have the opportunity to support the campaign by having their photo professionally taken and share why they love being a woman. Photos will be uploaded to Mall of the Emirates Facebook page and posted in the galleria to share. In addition, shoppers can enter to win a five-day holiday for two to the Maldives just by spending AED 650 in any fashion stores.
“Women in the region have made tremendous strides in society and we want to commend them for their hard work as part of the International Women’s Day celebration,” said Fuad Sharaf, Senior Asset Director - Asset Management, Shopping Malls. “In addition to the women-only promotions, we are presenting five inspirational women in the community who have dedicated their lives to charitable initiatives close to their heart. This is in effort to create unity between motivated women and inspire future generations.”
The following women were chosen to represent the campaign for their admirable qualities, achievements, challenges overcome and their tremendous dedication to charitable works: Ayesha Kelaif in support of the Dubai Animal Rescue Centre (DARC), treating and fostering abandoned animals in the UAE; Lama Bazzari in support of NStyle Internationals’ Give N Style, empowering women through education; Ebtisam Abdulaziz in support of START, using art to heal and educate poor children in the Middle East; Saher Shaikh in support of Adopt-a-Camp, providing supplies and assistance to laborers; and Katrina Thornely in support of Emirates Arthritis Foundation, generating awareness and providing financial assistance to arthritis patients.
International Women’s Day is celebrated throughout the world to inspire women and to celebrate their remarkable achievements. Mall of the Emirates seeks to unite the diversity of women throughout Dubai and the UAE on this special day and support their work. Women are encouraged to display their pride in being a woman by wearing a badge in the shape of the female symbol, which will be handed out within the mall during the campaign.
