Mall of the Emirates partners with local associations to celebrate cultural diversity and children’s well-being
Dubai, UAE, 28 May 2013 – With more than 200 nationalities represented, Dubai is a cultural mosaic where 80% of the city’s population are expatriates. In celebration of this diversity and spreading this awareness amongst the younger generation, Mall of the Emirates is hosting a day of cultural festivity for International Children’s Day on Saturday June 1st, 2013 in the Central Galleria. International Children’s Day was founded by the World Conference for the Well-being of Children in 1925, and is a globally recognised event.
For the second year, Mall of the Emirates has organised a special program of family entertainment in partnership with the Chinese Women’s Association and the Dubai Women Association. Families and children of all backgrounds can enjoy two 30-minute shows on June 1st at 2:00pm and 4:00pm featuring a variety of cultural performances and entertainment including traditional Arabic and International Dance, International Costume Fashion Shows, Folk Song and Musical Performances and Martial Arts demonstrations - all performed by more than 70 children.
“International Children’s Day is a way to celebrate the children in our lives and foster the ideals of cultural awareness amongst the younger generation,” said Anna Mansour, Associate Director for Mall of the Emirates. “Mall of the Emirates would like to extend its appreciation to the Chinese Women’s Association and the Dubai Women Association for hosting this festival with us, and we invite families of all backgrounds to come and enjoy this special program on June 1st.”
Also on International Children’s Day, visitors can also view inspiring pieces of art created as part of a special initiative by Medicins San Frontiers (MSF). Called the ‘Wall of Life’, the exhibition showcases 64 pieces of artwork created by young students in the UAE, based on their creative interpretation of humanitarianism and volunteerism through the eyes of children. The art exhibition will be on display from May 30th-June 5th in the Central Galleria.
