With the cooler months on the horizon, it’s high time to overhaul your backyard. After many months of retreating to the air conditioning and neglecting our gardens, we’re looking to spruce up our outdoor space with a few new décor purchases.
The shopping malls in the Middle East are filled places to pick up homewares, from high-end interior stores such as The One, Villeroy & Boch and Harvey Nichols Dubai, to more affordable spots including Zara Home, Crate & Barrel Dubai and Home Centre.
We’ve scoured all of shops to source the most stylish pieces to buy now.
Artificial tree, Marina Home Interiors, visit Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Mirdif
Even the most eager green-thumbed friends wouldn’t know this orange tree was a faux.
Décor tip: If you’re not one for gardening look out for fake plants and trees instead – Artificial greenery is a lot less upkeep than the real thing and won’t malt leaves all over your patio. You can always add small succulents and cactuses into the mix, both of which require little care or watering.
Outdoor pillows, Crate & Barrel, visit Mall of the Emirates and City Centre Mirdif
Pair bright bohemian prints with block colour cushions on outdoor chairs and sofas.
Décor tip: Colourful cushions and printed rugs are an easy way to add instant life to a compact balcony or terrace. To keep the look cohesive, stick to a colour scheme but mix it up with a selection of different textures and patterns.
Metal lanterns, Zara Home, visit Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Deira, City Centre Bahrain and City Centre Muscat
Décor tip: Load up on Arabesque lanterns in a mishmash of metals such as bronze and burnished silver. We advise buying battery candles as opposed to the real thing - they last longer, don’t make a waxy mess and won’t blow out in the breeze.
