Contouring, strobing, baking…the beauty business has a tendency to throw out these technical terms and expect us mere mortals to achieve with ease at home – which can often result in streaky bronzer, a powdery white forehead and foundation tidelines.
However, applied correctly, a little bronzing action teamed with subtle highlighting and concealing, can work wonders on any complexion.
We’re here to help, with our easy-to-master tips for achieving a more structured look.
- Step 1.
Begin by prepping clean skin with a light layer of moisturiser, followed by a primer if you use one, and then foundation.
- Step 2.
Map your face with either a darker foundation stick or bronzing powder. We find that a foundation stick looks more natural and is much easier to blend. To bring out cheekbones, simply suck in your cheeks and apply a swipe of colour to the hollows. Next, take the stick (or bronzing powder) and apply colour to your temples, sides of your nose down to the tip and jawline – this is a great trick to slimming a double chin.
- Step 3.
Blend, blend again and then blend some more - this is key to a flawless finish. You can either use fingers or for a pro finish, try a damp beauty blender sponge. Tap the sponge in small circular motions to ensure the colour blurs with your foundation.
- Step 4.
Using your fingers or a sponge, add light to your complexion by dabbing liquid highlighter onto your Cupid’s bow, chin and brow bone, before taking a concealer in two shades lighter than your skin tone and applying to the center or your chin, under the eye and in the middle of your forehead.
- Step 5.
Ensure everything stays put with a light dusting of loose translucent power.
